Jarkka Rissanen & Sons of the Desert release their new album – hear the first single

Two electric guitars preach their jagged but elegant gospel on Mixed Waste, the new album by Jarkka Rissanen & Sons of the Desert. The band’s third album, which is released early this coming summer, showcases influences from rock, blues, world music and funk, yet the resulting music is unique and searching for new directions.

The first single Tailwind is released on today, March 14th, and it shows what Sons of the Desert is all about. The drummer Esa Kärki and the bassist Ilpo Komulainen create the song’s traditionally solid and minimalist foundation, on which two kindred guitar spirits Jarkka Rissanen and Markus Väisänen paint their rootsy vistas.

A bona fide Finnish guitar legend Jarkka Rissanen’s career has continued for over 40 years. Rissanen is known from many famous Finnish bands, and the upcoming album is the tenth album carrying Rissanen’s own name.

Humu Records releases the album Mixed Waste on June 6th 2025 on CD and digital formats. The single Tailwind can be streamed from player and link bellow.
